Let’s Think Maths: A Research-Proven Approach to Raising Attainment Across Your School
As a school leader, you want mathematics teaching that develops confident, thoughtful learners who can reason, collaborate and understand concepts deeply, not just memorise procedures. The Let’s Think Maths programme offers exactly that.
Proven by decades of international research, this approach raises attainment for pupils aged 4 to 14 by strengthening the cognitive processes behind successful mathematical learning.
Unlike a new scheme or curriculum overhaul, Let’s Think Maths is light on workload and high on impact. Teachers introduce one lesson once a fortnight, using well-designed activities that reveal why pupils struggle, not just what they get wrong. This insight transforms everyday teaching, making it more targeted, responsive and effective.
The programme immerses your teachers in a pedagogy that makes mathematics more engaging, participatory and accessible for classes with diverse needs and achievement levels. Lessons are designed to be both intellectually challenging and genuinely enjoyable for pupils and teachers alike.
The live introductory day at your school explores the theory and design of Let’s Think lessons, including how the pedagogy works in practice.
Teachers learn to apply the four core principles of Let’s Think teaching:
• Concrete Preparation
• Cognitive Conflict
• Social Construction
• Metacognition
They then experience the approach firsthand through a live demonstration lesson.
Afterwards, your staff gain access to high-quality lesson demonstration videos and teaching resources, including three Let’s Think lessons they can immediately use with their pupils. (Access to the full resource bank for all age groups is available separately, and details will be shared during the first session.)
