Laura is a teacher trainer, educational consultant, and founder of Merry Nature, supporting schools and educators in creating learning environments that nurture wellbeing, attention, and connection. Drawing on experience from public schools in Toronto to international school contexts in Switzerland, her work bridges classroom reality with the restorative power of the natural world.

With over 20 years in education, Laura’s practice is rooted in nature-based pedagogy, mindfulness, and movement. She actively lives what she teaches, bringing an embodied, authentic approach to professional learning that resonates with both children and adults.

 

What defines Laura’s work is its practicality. Deeply aware of the pressures teachers face, she focuses on simple, realistic strategies that can be implemented immediately. Through her Taking Learning and Living Outdoors work, she helps educators reduce student stress, strengthen attention, and foster a sense of calm, connection, and wellbeing — without adding to teachers’ workload.

 

Through Merry Nature, Laura collaborates with schools such as the International School of Geneva and shares her work at educator conferences, supporting sustainable change that begins with small, intentional shifts in everyday practice.
